When Marcelinho Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Ibicui SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelinho Pombal couldn't finish the play. Arnaldo de Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cláudio Mendonça having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Fantini in the 45th minute of play forced Palmeirais FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelinho Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Fantini in the 76th minute of play forced Palmeirais FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmeirais FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Palmeirais FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelinho Pombal. Cláudio Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilton Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lauro Martins came out of the goal and Hortêncio Mandrak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Palmeirais FC's Cláudio Mendonça got control of the ball when Marcelinho Pombal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cláudio Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Fantini in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to Palmeirais FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Ernesto Paraibano hit a great ball. The Palmeirais FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
