In the 11thth minute of the game Davinson Sánchez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio's Luís Paulo Trevisan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 12th minute, Ricardo Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wiliam Leite blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Paulo Trevisan having to make a save. If Davinson Sánchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Paulo Trevisan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, Grêmio's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Leite came free, but Luís Paulo Trevisan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Torres received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luís Paulo Trevisan came out and tried to block the shot, but Abel Torres slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 38th minute. Wiliam Leite blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Paulo Trevisan having to make a save. 45 minutes into the match, Grêmio's goalkeeper Luís Paulo Trevisan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Naldo Dias. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zeca Romero to make the kick off. Wiliam Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Paulo Trevisan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wiliam Leite in the 55th minute of the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 70 minutes into the game, Wiliam Leite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Luís Paulo Trevisan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Raphael Trevisan's late challenge caught a Clube De Regatas Flamengo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raphael Trevisan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th minute, Raphael Trevisan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute Wiliam Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Paulo Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clube De Regatas Flamengo's Wiliam Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Clube De Regatas Flamengo fully deserved thier win.
