São Paulo FC's Júlio Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Pimenta in the 3rd minute of play. A collision led to Sarandy getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jarbas Fonseca hit a great ball. Gilvan Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Couto having to interfere. When Luizão Pimenta came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Sarandy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Pimenta couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute Donato Sena suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. When Christiano do Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São Paulo FC's protests and gave Christiano do Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes São Paulo FC got a freekick which was hit by Christiano do Nascimento. Henrique Mineiro took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugo Medeiros. Hugo Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. If Henrique Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fiori Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jarbas Fonseca hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Fiori Reis made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luizão Pimenta got free with Júlio Couto in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Henrique Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henrique Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Medeiros having to interfere. Fiori Reis took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugo Medeiros. Hugo Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luizão Pimenta got free with Júlio Couto in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luizão Pimenta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jarbas Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilvan Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sarandy's Maurício Travassos suffered a sore thigh after 78 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 78 minutes, Wilton Passos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the São Paulo FC and the Sarandy players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to São Paulo FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Wilton Passos hit a great ball. The supporters of São Paulo FC booed when Sarandy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Paraense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fiori Reis in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hugo Medeiros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 85th match minute, Sarandy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilvan Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Henrique Mineiro's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. In the 91st minute, Christiano do Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Fiori Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
