Eurico Zonta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro de Castro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

José Pedro de Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uvaia. After 71 played minutes Macarau AD got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Bastos. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Zonta in the 74th minute of play forced Macarau AD's goalkeeper José Pedro de Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Thiago Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Macarau AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Thiago Passos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciro Secco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 83rd minute Thiago Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Secco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Thiago Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zé Roberto Mendonça hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
