Gilberto Loureiro took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gernando Ramos. Dário Sarmento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca Santana, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The audience was convinced that Zeca Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dário Sarmento was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. 20 minutes into the match, Pongai's goal looked a bit too open when Erivaldo Leal came free, but Dário Sarmento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Haroldo Pitta fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pongai's protests and gave Haroldo Pitta a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Pongai's Haroldo Pitta got a free kick in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Santana in the 24th minute of play forced Pinhaozinho SC's goalkeeper Gernando Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Santana in the 34th minute of play forced Pinhaozinho SC's goalkeeper Gernando Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Pinhaozinho SC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Benjamin dos Santos hit a great ball. With his leg Gernando Ramos managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Pongai's Gilberto Loureiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jorge Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Gernando Ramos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilberto Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Gernando Ramos made a huge save. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorge Santana to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Jorge Santana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 54 minutes into the match, Gilberto Loureiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gernando Ramos. Pinhaozinho SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilberto Loureiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Erivaldo Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Pongai getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Belmiro Vander hit a great ball. Dário Sarmento was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Erivaldo Leal showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 60 minute of play. Gernando Ramos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Santana in the 64th minute of play. Jorge Santana struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Gernando Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pongai. 69 minutes into the game, Gilberto Loureiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Gernando Ramos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 75th match minute, Pongai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelsinho Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. After 79 played minutes Erivaldo Leal rounded Pongai's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-3. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pinhaozinho SC's goalkeeper Gernando Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 90th play minutes Erivaldo Leal shot 3-4, a short shot which went by Dário Sarmento and just under the crossbar into goal. When Gilberto Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Pongai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Loureiro couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Pongai lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
