Jacarau SC's Abel Mesquita managed to work through National FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Abel Mesquita dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After 14 played minutes National FC got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho Soeiro. Abel Mesquita struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Arnaldo Almeida didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jacarau SC. In the 21st minute Orlando Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdomiro Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrício Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Cabral having to interfere. When Orlando Maciel came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the National FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orlando Maciel couldn't finish the play. Arnaldo Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Remo Senna in the 34th minute. 41 minutes into the match, National FC's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Senna came free, but Arnaldo Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Abel Mesquita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jacarau SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Remo Senna was the one to do the kick off. Orlando Maciel was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 55th minute. National FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jacarau SC's Valdomiro Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrício Aguiar in the 60th minute of play. National FC's Arnaldo Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Mesquita in the 71st minute of play. Gustavo Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. The referee ignored Jacarau SC's protests and gave Narciso Trigo a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Remo Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jacarau SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Remo Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 94th minute by Orlando Maciel got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Chicão Meira kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Jacarau SC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
