Armando Cunha made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Sílvio Luiz Cosme sent off a good shot on target. Eduardo Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 9 minutes into the match, Capinal AD's goalkeeper Armando Cunha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sílvio Luiz Cosme. After 10 minutes, Benedito Marinho made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Capinal AD's Armando Cunha tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson Quadros in the 13th minute of play forced National FC's goalkeeper Júlio Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Sílvio Luiz Cosme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benedito Marinho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Armando Cunha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. National FC's Ronaldo de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfredo de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Ronaldo de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Armando Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 28 played minutes National FC got a freekick which was hit by Tiago de Amorim. With a little luck, Capinal AD's Armando Cunha got control of the ball when Sílvio Luiz Cosme tried to sneak it across the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Eduardo Lara notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of National FC's Júlio Faria. Júlio Faria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 39 minutes, Benedito Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. National FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benedito Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Capinal AD's Armando Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Capinal AD from getting a goal against them. When Tiago de Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the National FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiago de Amorim couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicolas Cavalcante to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, National FC's goalkeeper Júlio Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eduardo Lara. Júlio Faria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Pedro Pereira in the 54th minute. In the 60th match minute, National FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo de Senna to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Váldson da Fonseca in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armando Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Capinal AD's João Augusto Velasco got a free kick in the 64th minute. 77 minutes into the match, Capinal AD's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago de Amorim came free, but Armando Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tiago de Amorim fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored National FC's protests and gave Tiago de Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes National FC got a freekick which was hit by Tiago de Amorim. 86 minutes into the match, National FC's Váldson da Fonseca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armando Cunha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Armando Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Armando Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedito Marinho in the 91st minute of play. There was no doubt that National FC were the better team. National FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
