The supporters of Aricaria FC booed when Hidrolina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Toledo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20thth minute of the game Júlio Lira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Aricaria FC's Oswaldo Bittencourt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ciro Cardozo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luís Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 27 played minutes, Hidrolina's Afonsinho Trancoso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oswaldo Bittencourt came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hidrolina reached it. After 29 minutes of play, Aricaria FC's André Luís Barbosa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ciro Cardozo was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 32nd match minute, Hidrolina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arthur Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. Ciro Cardozo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlinhos França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beto Porto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 43rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ciro Cardozo. Hidrolina's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Carlinhos França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ciro Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After a rather tough play, Hidrolina's Luiz Fábio Toledo got a free kick in the 52nd minute.
