The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Palestra Italia's Frank Romero got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 7th minute Marco Viana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidnei Batista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th minute Wilton Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliézer Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Benjamin Correia put in a rough tackle. 17 minutes into the game, one of Palestra Italia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Eliézer Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilton Gaspar in the 22nd minute of the match. Palestra Italia's Eliézer Tavares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Palestra Italia from getting a goal against them. Eliézer Tavares made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Osmar Fantini sent off a good shot on target. Eliézer Tavares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osmar Fantini in the 27th minute. After 28 played minutes Palestra Italia got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Augusto Simões. The supporters of ITAJUBA booed when Palestra Italia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Wilton Gaspar put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Eliézer Tavares. Sidnei Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Palestra Italia's Eliézer Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilton Gaspar in the 44th minute of play. Osmar Fantini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Eliézer Tavares made a huge save. 47 minutes into the match, Palestra Italia's goalkeeper Eliézer Tavares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osmar Fantini. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Wilton Gaspar made the kick off in the second half. Eliézer Tavares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wilton Gaspar went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Joélson Zonta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Batista having to interfere. When Marco Viana came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Palestra Italia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Viana couldn't finish the play. Eliézer Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osmar Fantini in the 64th minute of play. After having played for 65 minutes, Wilton Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ITAJUBA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilton Gaspar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basílio de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basílio de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Osmar Fantini took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eliézer Tavares. Eliézer Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. In the 79th minute, Joélson Zonta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes in the game, Marco Viana fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Sidnei Batista having to interfere. Wilton Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Eliézer Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 85 minutes into the match, Palestra Italia's goal looked a bit too open when Wilton Gaspar came free, but Eliézer Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Viana in the 86th minute of play forced ITAJUBA's goalkeeper Sidnei Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute, Palestra Italia's Marco Viana dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-1. In the 91st match minute, Palestra Italia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Romero to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute, Basílio de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. ITAJUBA fully deserved thier win.
