Pau FC's Tarcisio Cabral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Pau FC from getting a goal against them. In the 18th match minute, Pau FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paulo de Brito to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Roberto Vides in the 19th minute of play forced Pau FC's goalkeeper Tarcisio Cabral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelinho Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After 22 minutes of play Apiques FC's Nilson Marques was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Apiques FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Manoel da Costa ran over to the corner to take the kick. Manoel da Costa made a great header on Pau FC's corner, it was just that Apiques FC's Beto Teixeira managed to reach the ball for a save. Beto Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelinho Loyola in the 27th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Lúcio Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aquiles Marques who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Tarcisio Cabral when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Beto Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Luiz Donatello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, André Luiz Donatello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Beto Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Maranhense in the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

If Lúcio Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Apiques FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after André Luiz Donatello fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Aquiles Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 65 played minutes Apiques FC got a freekick which was hit by Natanael Rosa. Tarcisio Cabral stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aquiles Marques's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Norberto Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Tarcisio Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Pau FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Matheus Vander hit a great ball. Beto Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelinho Loyola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Apiques FC's Marcelo de Souza got a free kick in the 84th minute. Lúcio Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Beto Teixeira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pau FC. Lúcio Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beto Teixeira having to interfere.
