If Vivaldo Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the game, Florescente's Zé Roberto Lucas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Álvaro Peixoto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 23rd minute, Zdravko Simeonov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Eduardo Dantas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fiori Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fiori Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 29 played minutes Florescente got a freekick which was hit by Fiori Mota. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emerson Salgado in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Percival Santana saved Florescente from getting behind. Nelson Pena walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 40 minutes into the match, Carlos Eduardo Dantas notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Chelsea FC's Álvaro Peixoto. Álvaro Peixoto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Chelsea FC's Alfred Janster quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luisinho Peres, made in the 44th minute of the game. If Armindo Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Roberto Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Álvaro Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Roberto Lucas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Florescente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Roberto Lucas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Zé Roberto Lucas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hannes Karlsson was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. Zé Roberto Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Álvaro Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Eduardo Dantas struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Álvaro Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Florescente. Florescente played a much better game than Chelsea FC and deserved their victory. The Chelsea FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
