Gremioo's Chico Bueno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Falcão Mota in the 9th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Bebeto Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute Rodrigo Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th match minute, Berlim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laerte Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Vale didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 23rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. The supporters of Gremioo booed when Berlim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Carlos Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gremioo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristóvão Aguiar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Gremioo's Rodrigo Fantini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Miguel Vale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristóvão Aguiar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Miguel Vale made a huge save.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diogo Toledo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Chico Bueno didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Falcão Mota went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Cristóvão Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 95 minutes of play, Gremioo's Cristóvão Aguiar made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there!
