After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Alex Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot. Engenho de Dentro FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Damião was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fiori Damião breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that José Maria Leite's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fiori Damião was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Umbuzeiro's goalkeeper Fiori Damião, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcinho Terra made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Marcinho Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Umbuzeiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcinho Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vivaldo Soeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Hoffmann in the 68th minute of play forced Engenho de Dentro FC's goalkeeper Vivaldo Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alex Damião sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Virgílio Hoffmann hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Fiori Damião came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Engenho de Dentro FC's José Maria Leite. But to his dismay, José Maria Leite quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Virgílio Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vivaldo Soeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oswaldo Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Virgílio Hoffmann in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vivaldo Soeiro saved Engenho de Dentro FC from getting behind. In the 93rd match minute, Engenho de Dentro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliott Pourtier to maneuver through the defense. Engenho de Dentro FC played a much better game than Umbuzeiro and deserved their victory. The Umbuzeiro players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
