The crowd rose to their feet as Kiko Vergílio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vágner Tavares. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. In the 14th minute, Carlos Vianna made a precise shot to the right of Wellington Simão. Riachuelo SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Carlos Vianna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Wellington Simão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wellington Simão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Vianna's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Riachuelo SS's Wellington Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino de Castro in the 30th minute of play. The referee ignored Riachuelo SS's protests and gave Oswaldo de Barros a yellow card for diving instead. Wellington Simão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute Silas Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vágner Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oswaldo de Barros got free with Vágner Tavares in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wellington Simão came out of the goal and Carlos Vianna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adalmo Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Américo Moura took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 71st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vágner Tavares. Hawkeyes F.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Chico Perez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Carlos Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hawkeyes F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wellington Simão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. Wellington Simão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Vianna in the 100th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
