Spectators: 6663 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Clóvis Favoretto started the match with the kick off. Clóvis Favoretto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Cléber Neves came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Taboao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cléber Neves couldn't finish the play. Santos's Armandinho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Favoretto in the 15th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enio Vasconcelos during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 16 played minutes Santos got a freekick which was hit by Enio Vasconcelos. Cléber Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armandinho Tróia having to interfere. Armandinho Tróia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clóvis Favoretto, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. With a little luck, Santos's Armandinho Tróia got control of the ball when Cléber Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Santos's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Favoretto came free, but Armandinho Tróia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute Clóvis Favoretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armandinho Tróia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Clóvis Favoretto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute, Taboao's Clóvis Favoretto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Armandinho Tróia. Armandinho Tróia yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edu Nogueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Franklin Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 56 minutes into the match, Santos's goal looked a bit too open when Cléber Neves came free, but Armandinho Tróia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Cléber Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Armandinho Tróia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Santos's Armandinho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Favoretto in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clóvis Favoretto in the 62nd minute of play forced Santos's goalkeeper Armandinho Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santos's Armandinho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Favoretto in the 64th minute of play. After some careless play in the Santos defense, Clóvis Favoretto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Armandinho Tróia. The Santos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armandinho Tróia should have stopped the shot. If Cléber Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santos's Armandinho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Favoretto in the 74th minute of play. The audience held their breath when Laércio Eger in the 77th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Luiz Fernando Freitas's left hand side. In the 79th match minute, Santos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laércio Eger to maneuver through the defense. When Taboao's Cléber Neves in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santos's goalie prevented a goal. After 88 minutes, Alfredo Sabóia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santos and the Taboao players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 88th minute, one of Santos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Santos. In the 90th minute there was a penalty for Taboao. Inácio Meireles stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Armandinho Tróia. 5-0. When the referee ended the match the Taboao players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
