Through an outstanding action, after 13 minutes, Eliseu de Salles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Moeda booed when Uarati EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geraldo Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Uarati EC's zone, Murillo de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliseu de Salles came out of the goal and Murillo de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Juarês Goiano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adalberto Esteves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Uarati EC's goal looked a bit too open when Murillo de Queiroz came free, but Eliseu de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murillo de Queiroz to make the kick off. After having played for 64 minutes, Nilson Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uarati EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilson Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 69 minutes, Nilson Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uarati EC and the Moeda players grew even worse after the yellow card. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adalberto Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juarês Goiano in the 90th minute of play. The Uarati EC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Uarati EC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
