But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Tavares couldn't finish the play. After recieving a nice pass, Mota's Breno Ramos tried to score from far away in the 19th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. José Bonifacio f.c.'s Serafim Quadros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didi Vieira in the 21st minute of play. Serafim Quadros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Didi Vieira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Cléberson Vianna thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Serafim Quadros, a very annoying self made goal in the 52nd minute which led to 1-1. Cafu Baiano hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Serafim Quadros made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Didi Vieira sent off a good shot on target. Edgar Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Hermínio Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd minute of the match Cléberson Vianna sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hermínio Lira skillfully saved the ball. Mota's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Breno Ramos in the 86th minute. Breno Ramos made a great header on Mota's corner, it was just that José Bonifacio f.c.'s Serafim Quadros managed to reach the ball for a save. Didi Vieira struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Serafim Quadros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mota. When Didi Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Mota fans jumped to their feet. Waldir Faustino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serafim Quadros having to interfere. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind José Bonifacio f.c.'s goalkeeper Serafim Quadros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Mota left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than José Bonifacio f.c..
