But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladimir da Silveira couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Tubaroes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dé Novaes came free, but Gilvan Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

With his leg Gilvan Lira managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Paquevira's Dé Novaes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Amauri Guerra struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Gino Favoretto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tubaroes FC. 68 minutes into the game, Cauã Zanette was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
