Artur Vides made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. 36 minutes into the match, Barcelona's Eliseu Sabóia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Artur Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Francisc Crăciun took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Fiori Tande to make any attempt to save it. Ramiro Richie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Fiori Tande made a huge save. In the 48th minute Eliseu Sabóia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Vides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Flamengo players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Barcelona were winning 1-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eliseu Sabóia made a kick off. Artur Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Torres in the 53rd minute of play.
