A collision led to Gesteira getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Edson Vale hit a great ball. Adolfo Freitas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafael de Barros in the 27th minute. The referee showed Severino Pimenta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A hard shot by Murillo Albuquerque from long distance, 45 minutes into the match, got Adolfo Freitas's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Adolfo Freitas made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Alessandro Vinhas sent off a good shot on target. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dedé Melo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Arnaldo Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gesteira's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Donato was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luiz Diniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edson Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Luiz Diniz having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Gesteira's Edson Vale slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sílvio Luiz Diniz. That made the score 1-1 after 59 minutes of play. Adolfo Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dedé Melo, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Bruno Magalhães took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adolfo Freitas. Adolfo Freitas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Edson Vale took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sílvio Luiz Diniz.
