Charles da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo de Carvalho having to interfere. Batateira EC's Charles da Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Charles da Fonseca blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Abelardo de Carvalho having to make a save. If Márcio Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abelardo de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Abelardo de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charles da Fonseca in the 29th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Davi Freire kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Belchior Tasso. That made the score 1-1 in the 30 minute of play. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles da Fonseca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53rd play minutes Charles da Fonseca shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Abelardo de Carvalho and just under the crossbar into goal. 56 minutes into the game, one of Internacional:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 58 minutes, Batateira EC's Márcio Simões got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Abelardo de Carvalho. Batateira EC's Charles da Fonseca was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 74th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After having played for 77 minutes, Claudinei Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Batateira EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinei Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matheus Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Abelardo de Carvalho acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 81st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Naci do Nascimento. With 86 minutes on the clock, Jeremias Varela commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 87 played minutes Batateira EC got a freekick which was hit by Jeremias Varela. If Charles da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hudson Pereira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Belchior Tasso. Batateira EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Márcio Simões's late challenge caught a Internacional's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Márcio Simões helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Internacional booed when Batateira EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Márcio Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded Batateira EC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Internacional.
