The referee ignored Batateira EC's protests and gave Charles da Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th minute, Davi Freire made a precise shot to the right of Belchior Tasso. Batateira EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 15th minute, Charles da Fonseca reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Abelardo de Carvalho. The goal made the score 1-1. In the 19th minute, Charles da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Batateira EC booed when Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matheus Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Charles da Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 24 minutes, Márcio Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Batateira EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Márcio Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Charles da Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Abelardo de Carvalho made a huge save. Belchior Tasso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilberto Batista in the 32nd minute of play. Charles da Fonseca who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Abelardo de Carvalho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Abelardo de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Abelardo de Carvalho acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 43rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Erivaldo dos Santos. Internacional's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Faustão Prata scored to the left of an out of position Abelardo de Carvalho, making the score, 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Charles da Fonseca was the one to do the kick off. Internacional's Abelardo de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charles da Fonseca in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute Charles da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elder Guedes kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Márcio Simões took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Abelardo de Carvalho. Internacional's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Batateira EC's Charles da Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Abelardo de Carvalho came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Batateira EC's Faustão Prata. But to his dismay, Faustão Prata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 74th minute, Charles da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 75 minutes, Wellington Proença mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Internacional and the Batateira EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Internacional getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Wellington Proença hit a great ball. In the 77th match minute, Internacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elder Guedes to maneuver through the defense. 78 minutes into the match, Batateira EC's Márcio Simões broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Abelardo de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charles da Fonseca in the 80th minute of play. Abelardo de Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles da Fonseca in the 84th minute of the match. 85 minutes into the match, Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Charles da Fonseca came free, but Abelardo de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abelardo de Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márcio Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles da Fonseca in the 90th minute of play forced Internacional's goalkeeper Abelardo de Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Batateira EC booed when Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wellington Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Batateira EC were the better team. Batateira EC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
