Campineiro's Romeu Proença managed to work through SE Palestrinidade's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Romeu Proença dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. When Romeu Proença came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Campineiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeu Proença couldn't finish the play. A collision led to SE Palestrinidade getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Dida Lopes hit a great ball. André Luís Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Lima in the 17th minute of play. Alex Alagoano's late challenge caught a Campineiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Alagoano helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of SE Palestrinidade:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Campineiro:s goal. The referee gave Campineiro a penalty, 20 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mané Fernandes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SE Palestrinidade's Gildo Motta. 0-1. In the 26th minute Romeu Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gildo Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SE Palestrinidade's Gildo Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeu Proença in the 28th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, André Matorin took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for André Luís Maia to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, SE Palestrinidade's André Matorin got a free kick in the 33rd minute. André Luís Maia was a little too slow when André Matorin got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 35th minute. The score was now 2-1. In the 38th minute Dida Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the SE Palestrinidade defense, Romeu Proença kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gildo Motta. The SE Palestrinidade fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gildo Motta should have stopped the shot. In the 43rd minute, SE Palestrinidade's André Matorin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

The wind increased when Betinho Lima made the kick off in the second half. Charles Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. André Luís Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gildo Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeu Proença, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to SE Palestrinidade getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. André Matorin hit a great ball. When Gilmar Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Campineiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilmar Azevedo couldn't finish the play. Romeu Proenças short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Gildo Motta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 70 in the game by Romeu Proença from a close distance when the talented Gildo Motta managed to make a qualified save. SE Palestrinidade's players were relieved. Campineiro's Hermínio Britto got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. André Luís Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Lima in the 82nd minute of play. After 84 minutes, Percival Paulista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Campineiro and the SE Palestrinidade players grew even worse after the yellow card. Percival Paulista hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Romeu Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot. Campineiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Romeu Proença was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gildo Motta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle sounded Campineiro left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than SE Palestrinidade.
