In the 26thth minute of the game Abelardo Silva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Real Salvador's Cipriano Queiroz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 31 minutes, Ramón Teles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Salvador and the Red Bull Fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cipriano Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cícero Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cipriano Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ramón Teles got free with Cristian de Queiroz in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diego Monteiro to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chicão Cabral during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Chicão Cabral hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute Diego Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Red Bull Fc's Cícero Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Diego Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Red Bull Fc's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
