The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Cocala's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Carlos do Nascimento came free, but Luís Paulo Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adalberto Zilles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nando Branco having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afonso Novaes made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Mourao's goal looked a bit too open when Adalberto Zilles came free, but Nando Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Mourao's zone, Adalberto Zilles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nando Branco came out of the goal and Adalberto Zilles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mourao's Nando Branco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Novaes in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Afonso Novaes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Mourao's Nando Branco. Nando Branco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luís Paulo Saraiva made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Aron Bäckström sent off a good shot on target. If Adalberto Zilles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antônio Carlos do Nascimentos short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Luís Paulo Saraiva to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Antônio Carlos do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Saraiva having to interfere. 80 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos do Nascimento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Luís Paulo Saraiva was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aron Bäckström got free with Luís Paulo Saraiva in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nando Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Zilles in the 87th minute of play. Hílton Baptista's late challenge caught a Cocala's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hílton Baptista helped the player get up and apologised. Hílton Baptista kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. When the match was over Mourao could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cocala throughout the match.
