With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armindo Dantas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpected shot in the 20th minute by Armando Giancristofaro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Alexandre de Brito succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 23rd playminute. Armindo Dantas didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 30th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. When Alexandre de Brito came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Trindade Atlético Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre de Brito couldn't finish the play. When Armando Giancristofaro, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 46 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Armindo Dantas was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucas Paiva to make the kick off. Catune's Armindo Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Giancristofaro in the 53rd minute of play. A collision led to Catune getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Frédson Silva hit a great ball. The supporters of Trindade Atlético Club booed when Catune was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute Armando Giancristofaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trindade Atlético Club's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
