After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, César Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot. The audience was convinced that César Quintal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Maria Vargas was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. The supporters of Pereiro booed when Riosinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baltazar Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute, César Quintal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Maria Vargas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 22 minutes into the match, Pereiro's goal looked a bit too open when César Quintal came free, but José Maria Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 23 played minutes Riosinho got a freekick which was hit by Renatinho Borges. José Maria Vargas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Flávio Jacinto's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pereiro's goalkeeper José Maria Vargas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If César Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling César Quintal in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Maria Vargas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flávio Jacinto in the 40th minute of play forced Pereiro's goalkeeper José Maria Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Flávio Jacinto to make the kick off. Donato de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Faustão Cosme in the 73rd minute of play. With a little luck, Pereiro's José Maria Vargas got control of the ball when César Quintal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donato de Senna made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Riosinho's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
