Spectators: 6984 (Terracing: 5484, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Wilian Tepedino started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Elba SS getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Hamílton Borges hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Tabuada's Toninho Aguiar tried to score from far away in the 5th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Tabuada's zone, Wilian Tepedino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Albuquerque came out of the goal and Wilian Tepedino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilian Tepedino had several of the Tabuada's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 9 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Carlos Albuquerque as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 14th minute, Nelson Donato ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valdir Ferreira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Gustavo Guerra who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Carlos Albuquerque when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Elba SS's zone, Nildo Braga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valdir Ferreira came out of the goal and Nildo Braga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With splendid footwork Wilian Tepedino arrived in front of goal to shoot 2-1 by the left pole in the game's 26th minute. When Gustavo Guerra came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Elba SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustavo Guerra couldn't finish the play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The supporters of Tabuada booed when Elba SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elba SS's Valdir Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nildo Braga in the 56th minute of play. Valdir Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nildo Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st match minute, Elba SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Guerra to maneuver through the defense. Valdir Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nildo Braga, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Nildo Braga received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Valdir Ferreira came out and tried to block the shot, but Nildo Braga slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 68th minute. Hamílton Borges hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Toninho Aguiar took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Valdir Ferreira. Elba SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 74th minute Wilian Tepedino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Gustavo Guerra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nildo Braga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdir Ferreira having to make a save. Valdir Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nildo Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 92 minutes Elba SS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Toninho Aguiar who took care of the corner kick. Dorival Motta made a great header on Tabuada's corner, it was just that Elba SS's Valdir Ferreira managed to reach the ball for a save. Nando Mota hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Elba SS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Tabuada had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
