If Wesley do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rodeiro SC's zone, Toninho Neiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Linares came out of the goal and Toninho Neiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rodeiro SC's goalkeeper José Linares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Wesley do Valle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Linares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Toninho Neiva in the 37thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of José Linares, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Toninho Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodeiro SC's José Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Sousa in the 40th minute of play. If Toninho Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Henrique Zonta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. José Linares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jânio Nóbrega in the 90th minute of the match. When Henrique Zonta fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rodeiro SC's protests and gave Henrique Zonta a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Rodeiro SC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Henrique Zonta hit a great ball. José Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cleiton Cabral in the 94th minute of play.
