But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vânderson Luz couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Jeriba SC's Flávio Teles got control of the ball when Vânderson Luz tried to sneak it across the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rony Marquez couldn't finish the play. 48 minutes into the match, Piraputangas's Vânderson Luz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flávio Teles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 54 minutes, Percival Brasil mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jeriba SC and the Piraputangas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Jeriba SC's Percival Brasil got a free kick in the 54th minute. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Eduardo Veloso took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for André Luís Vides to make any attempt to save it. Tiaguinho Favoretto's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 93rdth minute, André Luís Vides skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 94 played minutes Piraputangas got a freekick which was hit by Roberto da Silva. Tiaguinho Favoretto might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Luís Vides. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tiaguinho Favoretto ran back to his position shaking his head. The Jeriba SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Jeriba SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
