Spectators: 6940 (Terracing: 5440, Seating: 1400, VIP seats: 100) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Fernandinho Cavalcante took the kick off in the first half of the match. Roger Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Brodel in the 5th minute of play. After 7 minutes, Alessandro Paraibano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galos and the Pompeu SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alessandro Paraibano kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Galos's Roger Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armandinho Mesquita in the 9th minute of play. Roger Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aníbal Brodel, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 11 played minutes Galos got a freekick which was hit by Laércio Berger. 12 minutes into the match, Aníbal Brodel notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Galos's Roger Carioca. Roger Carioca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Moreira in the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Alessandro Paraibano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roger Carioca came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Pompeu SS's Armandinho Mesquita. But to his dismay, Armandinho Mesquita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Armandinho Mesquita struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Roger Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pompeu SS. Fernandinho Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Frédson Torres made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Caetano Branco sent off a good shot on target. In the 37th minute Sydney Moreira suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 37th match minute, Galos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olívio Valadares to maneuver through the defense. Genílson Rodrigues might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roger Carioca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Genílson Rodrigues ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th minute Armandinho Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pompeu SS's Genílson Rodrigues got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Armandinho Mesquita was the one to do the kick off. If Aníbal Brodel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Cavalcante in the 63rd minute of play forced Pompeu SS's goalkeeper Frédson Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Armandinho Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldão de Amorim in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roger Carioca saved Galos from getting behind. Roger Carioca was a little too slow when Aníbal Brodel got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 71st minute. The score was now 0-4. If Armandinho Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pompeu SS's Genílson Rodrigues got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Roger Carioca managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Pompeu SS's Armandinho Mesquita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Aníbal Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Armandinho Mesquita came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Pompeu SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armandinho Mesquita couldn't finish the play. After 87 minutes, Genílson Rodrigues mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pompeu SS and the Galos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th match minute, Pompeu SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genílson Rodrigues to maneuver through the defense. Galos's Erasmo Fontes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 88th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Pompeu SS. Olívio Valadares hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The Galos fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Pompeu SS were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
