With his leg Caetano de Andrade managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Mangunca EC's Paulinho Terra fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Aírton Quadros came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Mangunca EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aírton Quadros couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Ione AD getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Adhemar Cardozo hit a great ball. Aírton Quadros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aírton Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano de Andrade having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Armandinho de Alcântara reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Caetano de Andrade. The goal made the score 1-0. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Paulinho Terra put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Caetano de Andrade. Henrique Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anísio Bertassi having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Ione AD's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Quadros came free, but Caetano de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Mangunca EC's Aírton Quadros slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Caetano de Andrade. That made the score 3-0 after 34 minutes of play. With his leg Caetano de Andrade managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when Mangunca EC's Paulinho Terra fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ione AD's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. André Luís Quadros was slow to take the kick. During this time Mangunca EC's players had a chance to rest. After 40 played minutes Mangunca EC got a freekick which was hit by Cesinha do Nascimento. Caetano de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Quadros in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrique Tepedino to make the kick off. Adhemar Cardozo hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Terra in the 56th minute of play forced Ione AD's goalkeeper Caetano de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aírton Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Caetano de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Betinho Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute, Paulinho Terra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Mangunca EC's Anísio Bertassi got control of the ball when Rony Alagoano tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Ione AD booed when Mangunca EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo da Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Adhemar Cardozo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 72 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Ione AD's Adhemar Cardozo got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Ione AD's goal looked a bit too open when Paulinho Terra came free, but Caetano de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aírton Quadros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ione AD booed when Mangunca EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo da Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rony Alagoano took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anísio Bertassi. Anísio Bertassi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Aírton Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mangunca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aírton Quadros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caetano de Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd minute, Paulinho Terra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mangunca EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
