The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Aílton Cardoso fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mants FC's protests and gave Aílton Cardoso a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Mants FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Aílton Cardoso hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Hever in the 8th minute of play forced Mants FC's goalkeeper João Francisco Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Váldson Fontes struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Matías Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mants FC. In the 15th minute, Percy Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maicon Barbosa in the 17th minute of play forced Mants FC's goalkeeper João Francisco Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Spartans's Matías Esteves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Spartans from getting a goal against them. Matías Esteves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kléberson Velasco in the 26th minute. 33 minutes into the game, Váldson Fontes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Matías Esteves. Váldson Fontes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 38th minute, Cauan Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Spartans's Maicon Barbosa got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cauan Fonseca hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Maicon Barbosa to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Maicon Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spartans's supporters rose to their feet, but Maicon Barbosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Francisco Monteiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elias Hever received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. João Francisco Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Elias Hever came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Spartans fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elias Hever couldn't finish the play. Mants FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Maicon Barbosa scored to the left of an out of position João Francisco Monteiro, making the score, 1-2. 75 minutes into the match, Váldson Fontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matías Esteves. Spartans's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Váldson Fontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. João Francisco Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armandinho Martins in the 79th minute of the match. If Elias Hever had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Armandinho Martins was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Spartans's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Geraldo Capixaba hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. João Francisco Monteiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armandinho Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Geraldo Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Spartans failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
