Tadeu Vale came out and tried to block the shot, but Manoel Passos slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 19th minute. Rafael Lima could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Tadeu Vale made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Faustino in the 30th minute of play forced E.C.PÉNACOVA's goalkeeper Tadeu Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tadeu Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manoel Passos in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro EC's zone, Juninho Damião stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gildo Medeiros came out of the goal and Juninho Damião tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. E.C.PÉNACOVA's Tadeu Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton de Mendonça in the 38th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro EC's Bruninho Paulista got a free kick in the 41st minute. Tadeu Vale was a little too slow when Manoel Passos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 45th minute. The score was now 3-2. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The wind increased when Manoel Passos made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, E.C.PÉNACOVA's goal looked a bit too open when Manoel Passos came free, but Tadeu Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tadeu Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aírton de Mendonça in the 52nd minute of the match. Alexandre Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeu Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manoel Passos, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Tadeu Vale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. 64 minutes into the match, E.C.PÉNACOVA's goal looked a bit too open when Manoel Passos came free, but Tadeu Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Juninho Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alexandre Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the E.C.PÉNACOVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Valadares couldn't finish the play. Tadeu Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armandinho Urbano in the 71st minute of the match. 73 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro EC's Rafael Lima nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tadeu Vale made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. If Manoel Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. Cruzeiro EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
