Araborladit EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genílson Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Araborladit EC's Antón Lalinský fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Genílson Nogueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Fabiano Lira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Genílson Nogueira ran back to his position shaking his head. Frank Guimarães hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Maria Varela stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Peter Gagnon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute Genílson Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fabiano Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Genílson Nogueira came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Araborladit EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Genílson Nogueira couldn't finish the play. Ademir Tande struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Luís Fabiano Lira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Araborladit EC. After a defensive mix-up in Firminopolis's zone, Genílson Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fabiano Lira came out of the goal and Genílson Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Araborladit EC were furious when Mário de Amaral was red carded, 85 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 84th minute of the game. One of Araborladit EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Firminopolis:s goal. Ademar Teles had in the 87thth minute some difficulties stopping Cláudio Garcia's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Genílson Nogueira notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Firminopolis's Luís Fabiano Lira. Luís Fabiano Lira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cássio Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fabiano Lira having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Araborladit EC had played much better football throughout.
