With a little luck, Itaparica's Faustão Brasil got control of the ball when Gilberto Queiroz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eduardo Lopes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustavo Vieira went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 45 minutes into the game, José Augusto Valladares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itaparica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pieropolis the free kick. Itaparica's Faustão Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Freire in the 59th minute of play. 61 minutes into the game, Itaparica's Gustavo Vieira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Lopes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Gilberto Queiroz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gustavo Vieira in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eduardo Lopes saved Pieropolis from getting behind. When Gustavo Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Itaparica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustavo Vieira couldn't finish the play. In the 76th minute, Emílio Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Itaparica's Gustavo Vieira in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Itaparica's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Augusto Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 97 minutes Pieropolis's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Egídio Branco who took care of the corner kick. Itaparica's Egídio Branco was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Eduardo Lopes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
