Olympique Lyonnais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jumirim the free kick. Ernani Linares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 30 minutes into the match, Olympique Lyonnais's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Linares came free, but Ernani Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 played minutes Rodolfo Linares rounded Olympique Lyonnais's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. A collision led to Olympique Lyonnais getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Jean Branco hit a great ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Donato Miranda made a kick off. Rodolfo Linares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jean Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Geraldo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Olympique Lyonnais's zone, Rodolfo Linares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernani Linares came out of the goal and Rodolfo Linares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hermínio Pena blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ernani Linares having to make a save. After 61 played minutes Olympique Lyonnais got a freekick which was hit by Délio Vinhas. After recieving a nice pass, Jumirim's Eliézer Senna tried to score from far away in the 62nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Hermínio Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernani Linares having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Linares in the 71st minute of play forced Olympique Lyonnais's goalkeeper Ernani Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antônio Lucas couldn't finish the play.
