Fabinho Paiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elder Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Boludos's goalkeeper Egídio de Azevedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Afonsinho de Alcântara took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabinho Paiva. Fabinho Paiva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Alfredo Guedes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Egídio de Azevedo having to make a save. A collision led to Rio Bonito getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Celso Varela hit a great ball. A hard shot by Kiko Ceresso from long distance, 35 minutes into the match, got Fabinho Paiva's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The audience was convinced that Jorginho Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Egídio de Azevedo was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. After having played for 42 minutes, Chico Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Afonsinho de Alcântara was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Boludos's zone, Jorginho Carvalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egídio de Azevedo came out of the goal and Jorginho Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 60 minutes into the match, Elder Leal notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Rio Bonito's Fabinho Paiva. Fabinho Paiva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 67 minutes into the game, Elder Leal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Fabinho Paiva was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 73rd minute, Jorginho Carvalho made a precise shot to the right of Egídio de Azevedo. Atlético Boludos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Atlético Boludos's Anísio Alves pulled a muscle in his back after 83 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Chiquinho Pirani fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rio Bonito's protests and gave Chiquinho Pirani a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rio Bonito's Chiquinho Pirani got a free kick in the 84th minute. 87 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rio Bonito's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fábio Magalhães was slow to take the kick. During this time Atlético Boludos's players had a chance to rest. In the 89th minute, Fábio Magalhães sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Rio Bonito's Fabinho Paiva didn't even have to move. Rio Bonito's Jorginho Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 94 minutes, Alfredo Guedes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rio Bonito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Guedes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luiz Gustavo Neto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rio Bonito's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Atlético Boludos had won, even though Rio Bonito had held more of the ball.
