In the 9th match minute, Goiás Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Augusto de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Goiás Esporte Clube's zone, Klement Siembab stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franklin Arantes came out of the goal and Klement Siembab tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Christiano Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 15 minutes, Elder Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chapecó FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elder Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franklin Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elder Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Franklin Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elder Tasso in the 23rd minute of play. When Samuel Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Goiás Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Alagoano couldn't finish the play. Elder Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Franklin Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percy Vander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armindo Dracena during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 35th minute, Armindo Dracena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Percy Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Franklin Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Franklin Arantes came out of the goal and Elder Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Elder Tasso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Franklin Arantes. That made the score 0-3 in the 53 minute of play. Percy Vander received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Franklin Arantes came out and tried to block the shot, but Percy Vander slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 57th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Goiás Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Franklin Arantes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christiano Travassos. Percy Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Arantes having to interfere. After having played for 64 minutes, Elder Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chapecó FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elder Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franklin Arantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chapecó FC. 88 minutes into the game, Klement Siembab cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-8. Franklin Arantes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Franklin Arantes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christiano Travassos in the 95th minute of the match.
