When Samuel Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Goiás Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Alagoano couldn't finish the play. Gilberto Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Franklin Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tião Fantini in the 13th minute of play. If Tião Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilberto Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Tião Fantini's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Franklin Arantes was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After 22 played minutes Nil Castel MS got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Aparecido. In the 24th minute, Tião Fantini fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Franklin Arantes, passed just outside the right post. Tião Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tião Fantini in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Franklin Arantes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Franklin Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Gilberto Aparecido had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franklin Arantes. Goiás Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilberto Aparecido was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 39th match minute, Goiás Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. 41 minutes into the match, Nil Castel MS's Tião Fantini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Franklin Arantes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cássio Neiva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guga Recife read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Franklin Arantes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tião Fantini's shot from short distance in the 47th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tião Fantini was the one to do the kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Gilberto Aparecido sped through Goiás Esporte Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Franklin Arantes. Tião Fantini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Franklin Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Paulo Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Arantes having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Samuel Alagoano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Alagoano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Recife breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the game, Paulo Vargas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nil Castel MS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goiás Esporte Clube the free kick. A collision led to Nil Castel MS getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Franklin Arantes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 78 minutes into the game, Nil Castel MS's Tião Fantini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Franklin Arantes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Nil Castel MS's Tião Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Franklin Arantes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Aparecido in the 85th minute of the match. In the 86th match minute, Goiás Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Vítor Paraense to maneuver through the defense. Tião Fantini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Franklin Arantes having to make a save. In the 88th minute, Paulo Vargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Samuel Alagoano got free with Guga Recife in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Franklin Arantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Aparecido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tião Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nil Castel MS walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
