Perivaldo Ferreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Tavares in the 11th minute of play. 1-0 became the score in the 12th minute when Paulo Vargas elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ipira's Perivaldo Ferreira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Ipira from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Perivaldo Ferreira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Tavares ran back to his position shaking his head. If Paulo Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 minutes, Agostinho Leite mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Turvinho and the Ipira players grew even worse after the yellow card. 27 minutes into the game, Zeca Almeida cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Renatinho Valladares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Ipira's Perivaldo Ferreira got control of the ball when Jonathan Tavares tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 38 minutes, Paulo Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Turvinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Vargas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Lenílson Santana fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ipira's protests and gave Lenílson Santana a yellow card for diving instead. After 39 played minutes Ipira got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Santana. A collision led to Turvinho getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Agostinho Leite hit a great ball. If Zeca Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zeca Almeida was the one to do the kick off. Perivaldo Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Germano Fantini succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 56th playminute. A collision led to Turvinho getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Agostinho Leite hit a great ball. Turvinho's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Zeca Almeida 61 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. Paulo Vargas took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Perivaldo Ferreira. Perivaldo Ferreira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Turvinho's Jonathan Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Vargas in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Perivaldo Ferreira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Ipira booed when Turvinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Fernando Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Tavares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Perivaldo Ferreira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Turvinho players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
