After having played for 13 minutes, Percy Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sumidouro SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percy Figueiredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Mesquita having to interfere. Sumidouro SC's Wiliam Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Sumidouro SC from getting a goal against them. Vitório Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Figueiredo in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelson Garcia in the 22nd minute of play forced Flamengo AC's goalkeeper Vitório Mesquita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Sumidouro SC's Daniel Arantes got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 28th match minute Décio Marquez ran free in the middle of the field and shot a long shot which scored behind a totally surprised Wiliam Guimarães. 1-0. In the 36th minute Emanuel Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cesinha Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Garcia in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vitório Mesquita saved Flamengo AC from getting behind. Vitório Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelson Garcia to make the kick off. A collision led to Flamengo AC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Décio Marquez hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute, Cafu Cavalcante got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vitório Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Percy Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percy Figueiredo might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vitório Mesquita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percy Figueiredo ran back to his position shaking his head. Guto Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dudu Nascimento during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Flamengo AC booed when Sumidouro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dudu Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wiliam Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesinha Bittencourt in the 74th minute of the match. After 75 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Flamengo AC! Cafu Cavalcante shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Vitório Mesquita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Garcia in the 79th minute of the match. Flamengo AC's Wilson Zonta got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Flamengo AC's Hílton Rezende got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Vitório Mesquita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beto Pires during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Beto Pires hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Nelson Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Mesquita having to interfere. Percy Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
