Oscar de Queiroz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but André Cabral made a huge save. The supporters of Putfire booed when Sport Club Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Artur de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléberson Mota was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Luciano Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Amorim in the 22nd minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Jeremias Pernambucano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Putfire's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Club Internacional the free kick. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Putfire. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Amorim made a kick off. After 57 minutes, Arthur Pimenta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Putfire and the Sport Club Internacional players grew even worse after the yellow card. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Putfire. Luciano Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Amorim in the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Putfire's zone, Carlos Alberto Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luciano Mendes came out of the goal and Carlos Alberto Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luciano Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Amorim in the 82nd minute of the match. Jeremias Pernambucano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without André Cabral having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Artur de Amorim got free with Luciano Mendes in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luciano Mendes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlos Alberto Amorim showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 91 minute of play. Carlos Alberto Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Sport Club Internacional supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sport Club Internacional would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
