The supporters of Farpao booed when Planet Hemp Fumaça Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juvenal Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Luiz Dias came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Planet Hemp Fumaça Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Dias couldn't finish the play. Planet Hemp Fumaça Clube's Arnaldo de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duda do Nascimento in the 33rd minute of play. When Jarbas Coelho fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Farpao's protests and gave Jarbas Coelho a yellow card for diving instead. Farpao's Zé Augusto Prado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Farpao from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Farpao's zone, Leopoldo Rezende stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Augusto Prado came out of the goal and Leopoldo Rezende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leopoldo Rezende struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Zé Augusto Prado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal.
