Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Magdalena FC's Vladimir Dracena started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Magdalena FC's goalkeeper Nestor Tavares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Falcão Tasso in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nestor Tavares saved Magdalena FC from getting behind. Nestor Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manolo de Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Nestor Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Falcão Tasso in the 10th minute of play. Falcão Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Tavares having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Vladimir Dracena rounded Cataguazes's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Donato Moreno came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Magdalena FC's Gilson Perez. But to his dismay, Gilson Perez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Manolo de Mendonça blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nestor Tavares having to make a save. Nestor Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Falcão Tasso in the 35th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Gilson Perez fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Donato Moreno, passed just outside the right post. With an all-out effort, Magdalena FC's Donato Moreno threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vladimir Dracena, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Vladimir Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Vladimir Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The nice shot from Manolo de Mendonça in the 53rdth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Nestor Tavares had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Falcão Tasso in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nestor Tavares saved Magdalena FC from getting behind. Cataguazes's Donato Moreno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Perez in the 60th minute of play. After some careless play in the Cataguazes defense, Gilson Perez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donato Moreno. The Cataguazes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donato Moreno should have stopped the shot. Gilson Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Manolo de Mendonça got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Manolo de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Nestor Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the game, Manolo de Mendonça cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Nestor Tavares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cataguazes players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Magdalena FC.
