Hudson Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dráuzio Coelho in the 11th minute of the match. Lino Sena struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Eliseu dos Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vila Paulista FC. After 25 minutes, Hermínio Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vila Paulista FC and the Varjoia AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. 32 minutes into the match, Vila Paulista FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dráuzio Coelho came free, but Hudson Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vila Paulista FC's Hudson Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Sampaio in the 33rd minute of play. Tiago Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dráuzio Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 41 minutes into the game, Varjoia AD's Tiago Sampaio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hudson Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Varjoia AD's Dráuzio Coelho got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tiago Sampaio made a kick off. Varjoia AD's Eliseu dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jano Azevedo in the 55th minute of play. Andrézinho Baiano hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. When Gernando Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Vila Paulista FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gernando Teixeira couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Vila Paulista FC defense, Dráuzio Coelho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hudson Brito. The Vila Paulista FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hudson Brito should have stopped the shot. Eliseu dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Sena in the 75th minute of play. In the 84th minute, Diogo Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th match minute, Vila Paulista FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jano Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Varjoia AD booed when Vila Paulista FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 89 played minutes Vila Paulista FC got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Couto. Tiago Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Hudson Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jano Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Dráuzio Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Varjoia AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Varjoia AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
