A hard shot by Falcão Pombal from long distance, 5 minutes into the match, got Osvaldo Amaral's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guga Valadares in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Osvaldo Amaral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edvaldo Mirandas short, quick shot in the 8thth minute got Osvaldo Amaral to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 16th minute, Zeca Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Cordilheira getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Caio Eger hit a great ball. Osvaldo Amaral made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Edvaldo Miranda sent off a good shot on target. Décio Zanette got his second yellow card in the match during the 22nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Décio Zanette kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guga Valadares in the 28th minute of play forced Cordilheira's goalkeeper Osvaldo Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Mazinho Hoffmann fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cordilheira's protests and gave Mazinho Hoffmann a yellow card for diving instead. In the 30th match minute, Cordilheira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Hoffmann to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute of the match Falcão Pombal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldo Amaral skillfully saved the ball. Osvaldo Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guga Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Guga Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Guga Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Torta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guga Valadares couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guga Valadares to make the kick off. Naldo Peres scored 0-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Celsinho Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cordilheira's Osvaldo Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga Valadares in the 55th minute of play. Guga Valadares struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Osvaldo Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Torta. 62 minutes into the match, Torta's goalkeeper Celsinho Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Naldo Peres. The supporters of Cordilheira booed when Torta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edvaldo Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldo Amaral having to interfere. After having played for 70 minutes, Guga Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Torta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edvaldo Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Edvaldo Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Guga Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Torta's supporters rose to their feet, but Guga Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvaldo Amaral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edvaldo Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 87 minutes into the match, Torta's Guga Valadares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osvaldo Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 95 minutes into the match, Cordilheira's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Valadares came free, but Osvaldo Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despite being the better team, Torta failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
