The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After recieving a nice pass, santos fc's Cássio Trevisan tried to score from far away in the 47th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sabino Saldanha made a kick off. Espigao AD's Luís Guilherme Lima got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Espigao AD's goalkeeper Marcos Linhares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luís Guilherme Lima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Percy Custódio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Tiaguinho Rosado kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. 60 minutes in the game, Claudinho Rosado dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Linhares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sabino Saldanha might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Percy Custódio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sabino Saldanha ran back to his position shaking his head. Percy Custódio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Guilherme Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. When Serginho Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Espigao AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Ramos couldn't finish the play. Luís Guilherme Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Custódio having to interfere. In the 75th minute Luís Guilherme Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percy Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
