The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre Tróia during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Mangarate SS booed when Cauacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Mangarate SS defense, Alexandre Tróia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Coutinho. The Mangarate SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Coutinho should have stopped the shot. After 15 minutes of play, Mangarate SS's Mathias Mello made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Duda Guerra was left in no man's land by his defense there! 18 minutes into the match, Mangarate SS's goal looked a bit too open when Nilmar Salles came free, but Ernesto Coutinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the game, Cauacu's Nilmar Salles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernesto Coutinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. A collision led to Mangarate SS getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Lenílson Soeiro hit a great ball. Ernesto Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilmar Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. If Nilmar Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cauacu's Dênis Paraíba pulled a muscle in his leg after 42 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 42 minutes, Mathias Mello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mangarate SS and the Cauacu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mathias Mello kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. If Mathias Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mathias Mello to make the kick off. Mangarate SS's Wilson Vale managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gildo Teixeira in the 55 minute of the game. When Mangarate SS's Mathias Mello in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ernesto Coutinho made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Alexandre Tróia sent off a good shot on target. Cauacu's João Vítor Alagoano got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The long shot by Olívio da Fonseca in the 82nd minute really tested Ernesto Coutinho's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 87th match minute, Mangarate SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Mazza to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Elias de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cauacu's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias de Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernesto Coutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ernesto Coutinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexandre Tróia in the 90th minute. Mangarate SS's André Mazza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Olívio da Fonseca, made in the 95th minute of the game. The Cauacu supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cauacu would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
