With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artur Figueiredo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Barandao's Artur Mello got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Telmo Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Fonseca in the 30th minute of play. Artur Figueiredo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erivaldo Mendes in the 33rd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Erivaldo Mendes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Artur Figueiredo. Ipiranga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erivaldo Mendes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Artur Figueiredo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erivaldo Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After having played for 44 minutes, Francisco Inko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barandao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Inko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Erivaldo Mendes, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 46 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Artur Figueiredo was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erivaldo Mendes was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Ipiranga getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Valdomiro Machado hit a great ball. Enio Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 56thth minute of the game Erivaldo Mendes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ipiranga's Artur Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 59 minutes into the game, Erivaldo Mendes lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated Artur Figueiredo. Francisco Inko struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Artur Figueiredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barandao. With an all-out effort, Barandao's Artur Figueiredo threw himself towards the right post 71 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Erivaldo Mendes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 73rdth minute of the game Erivaldo Mendes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ipiranga's Artur Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Barandao's goal looked a bit too open when Ismael Gerber came free, but Telmo Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 96 minutes of play, Ipiranga's Gilberto Falcão made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Telmo Lopes was left in no man's land by his defense there!
